Mastodons in the Tualatin Swamps

14,000 years ago, mastodons and woolly mammoths roamed our Tualatin Valley area. Evidence of their remains has been found in the past and continues to be unearthed in present day. Yvonne Addington, long time Tualatin resident, past -City Manager and historian will tell us about these prehistoric mastodons and a fascinating story about a Portland State student's creative class project.
Two molars and a tusk were recently donated to the Tualatin Historical Society by the former PSU student who in the 1960s, dug up the 14,000 year old skeleton in the Tualatin swamps next to the Tualatin Fred Meyer store".
Another half of the skeleton will become a focal point in the new Tualatin Library now under construction.
This is a program the kids will enjoy as much as the adults. Learn about prehistoric Mastodons and hear about the surprising find by the Portland State student.
The Oswego Heritage House is located at: 398 Tenth Street in Lake Oswego.
